Hindu-German Conspiracy

The whole deal sounds like it was tailor-made for a pulp novel (or technothriller, if we're going by modern standards).

But they were pretty close, the Germans had gun-running operations and everything and the Ghadarite agents were already in place. It was just that British intelligence was able to thwart the thing. The only place where the revolt materialized was in Singapore and it was quelled but it killed about 47 British officers.

How would this have made the Germans win? Were the Indians that vital to the British campaign?
Well i'd be safe to assume, that a full fledged Indian revolt would not have only meant the loss of Indian manpower for the war, but also drawn away non-Indian manpower from other fronts. Given how vital India was for the British Empire, i'd say that the British could easier have afforded to allow Germany to dominate the European mainland rather than have India break away.
