Hilter Goes To France

Adolf had long been fond of the French when he moved to Paris to study art. The French had a much more classy society he found. Not at all like those brutish Germans. He studied there for several years, until war came, and Hitler quickly joined the French Army. Despite facing death several times, he lives to see the war to it's end, and celebrates the allied victory in Paris.

What effect would this have on history?

Well, the nazi party would only be a radical right wing political party, if it ever managed to get off the ground. I doubt it would, but anyway the Weimer Republic would survive. Gustav Stresemann would most likely be reelected as Chancellor term after term, with his most direct problem being communism after solving the inflation problems.

The Second World War would most likely be the result of Stalin's ambitions as a dictator. He would attack the Low Countries and Germany, who would defend themselves for all they were worth before calling for help from France and Britain.

I do not believe the allies would help Germany until they realized that the German and Low Country forces will eventually fail. And with a communist Germany, France itself would be affected.

And so I will conclude this by saying that after one or two years of warfare the allies would be formed (excluding the United States who I believe would be fighting Japan and Japan alone) and the Russians would be beaten back.

But unless they would be able to capture Moscow and Petrograd during the summer (or spring) and avoid the winter, I believe a stalemate would occur. With the allies fearing the Russian winter and the Russians being unable to invade Europe.

Ya my bad. Im sorry I just spent the last two days writing a paper where I had to explain something about the Low Countries and so my fingers are naturally drawn to those keys... its a long story.

But what I really meant was that Russia would invade the Ukraine and sweep into the Balkans (though I suspect strong partisan activity).

Not much. Unless of course Hitler's absence means that Germany suddenly does not become a seething cauldron of hatred and the many factions fundamentally opposed to the Weimar Republic (DNVP, KPD, and Hindenburg spring to mind, there were many others) experience an equally sudden admiration for the weak state structures that they used to despise. And that's not even getting into the roots of the wave of radicalisation that swept the country and finally shook the Weimar Republic to pieces

Quite an impressive feat given that Stresemann died in 1929

Ukraine was already part of the Soviet Union. Plus, Stalin would first attack the Baltic states and Finland without much resistance.

Without Nazi Germany who knows what the fate of Poland would be, but it would probably be invaded by the Soviet Union and then the Allies declare war. The rest is almost impossible to grasp. Perhaps Germany would join the allies and Germany will become what France was in WWII. Perhaps the Japanese would invade the Soviet Union as well. Perhaps the Soviet Union would invade China and Japan after victory in Europe.

Stresmann was only Chancellor for one term, but he was Minister of Foreign Affairs unntil his death. Ther are som very god reasons why he did not regain the chancellorship. And even if we remove the nazis and hitler, the reasosn for nazi rise to power is still their. We could see the radicalized DNVP under Hugenberg take the main right wing opposition, somthing that could be more dangerous.
