Higher readiness for Suez?

Egypt negotiated the purchase of the Soviet bloc arms in September 1955, as a landmark event in the leadup to the Suez crisis. Yet when the crisis came Britain was still caught with few power projection assets available to strike when the iron was hot after the canal nationalisation in June 1956.

WI Britain steadily increased its readiness in the year leading up to Suez? Maximising the number of carriers and amphibious ships available, and stationing and exercising them in the Med. Giving the paras some jump training, moving RAF sqns into the area and plenty of other things that increase readiness to attack Egypt within the normal operation of the armed forces?
