Hey I'm new

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum and I have an idea and I would like tips to help me make it complete. I call it the Royal Empire of Hawaii. Basically, the Hawaii either fends off America(by some astronomically small chance) or America never overthrows Queen Liliuokalani. After a while, Central and South America's growing dissent for America would cause them in this timeline, to form their own version of NATO, and Hawaii would join for a. A way to defend itself since it's basically surrounded or b. The failed attempt at invading them by the US. After joining the South American/Central American NATO(What should I call it?)they ask to be able to honor their royalty and they soon converge into one nation, and the name is just a name.

Hello Stockimage, welcome to Ah.com, if I may suggest, it might be worth formally introducing yourself either in the 'Chat' or 'non political chat' forums. As for your senario, it depends on whether you want to seriously examine Hawaii as a Pacific superpower in what case you would really be looking at a much earlier POD than the 20th century. If this is your first time writing alternate history then you may feel more comfortable trying something smaller and more manageable before moving on to the dream project.

What does POD stand for?

Point of Divergence, it's a bit of AH-lexicon, it refers to the specific point at which a fictional alternative timeline departs from the regular flow of history, i.e our timeline or OTL. Now it can be a bit tricky as some Pods can have years before they take full effect, for example if Queen Victoria was to die as a child we wouldn't see the effects until after the death of the then ruling monarch, who I believe was George III. Other PODs can go for a sharp sudden break with the past, for example if Adolf Hitler was killed during the Munich Putch. It deepends on whether you want an outright break, or a slow drift.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
