The Beginning of a new Era
"It was as though everything Changed that Day"
Henry Wallace in 1958 Reflecting on the 1944 Election.
Chapter 1: One Single Change
"Henry Remains on, Boys. He has been a Great VP and Will be a Great President." The Man in the Wheelchair said to the other members of the Group. As those words were said History was changed forever. You See, The Party Leaders had expected him to change his Right hand man.

In the South all but 2 States would Defect from the Ticket. However when the Dust Settled He had Won

No way would Truman have rebelled in that way.

No way would Truman have rebelled in that way.

Plus, Truman was not a very significant figure in 1944 (one of the reasons he was chosen as VP, unlike Wallace or Byrnes he was not controversial and had few enemies). He did not have the national standing to mount an independent bid. Truman was a party loyalist, he would have supported FDR.

Wallace had an interest in Asia. Always thought he might have extended recognition of independence to Vietnam, they being one of the only people who liberated themselves from the Axis powers.

The Death of FDR
By August of 1945, FDR was barely alive. Even with everything going on he still held out. After Japan surrendered he told Wallace "This is the greatest moment in our lives. I've taught you all that I can. It will all be alright.". With that he went to Warm springs and died on September 13th 1945. Henry Wallace became the 33rd President, and so began an era of major reform.

Wouldn't the Republicans have swept Congress in 1946?
