Henry VIII dies in 1524?

Hey Guys,

In 1524 Henry VIII was involved in a jousting accident in which his headpiece was sprayed with splinters. Luckily none went through the sight-piece. However What If they had and Henry VIII lay dead after a joust with the Marquis of Dorset?

England is still Catholic and Wolsey is still pretty much the 'top-dog' in England. Would we see a regency of Mary I (now 8 years old) with Wolsey as the regent and Catherine still bringing the young Mary up. Who would be a good suitor in future for Mary I ITTL? Maybe at some point in the future she's married to Ferdinand, brother of the Holy Roman Emperor?

In 1524 Ferdinand was already married to Anne of Bohemia and Hungary. Maybe she could be married to Charles himself, but I doubt that the Emperor would wait so many years to marry her (as he didn't IOTL). And Catherine would probably not accept a French husband to Mary, given her family connections with the Habsburgs. Maybe a Portuguese prince? IOTL Charles V planned (although sometime later) about marrying Mary to Infante Luís of Aviz, maybe he could do it ITTL too.

I agree that Wolsey would be the first choice for Regent, but think that Mary would have to marry one of the English Dukes as the power of the throne would be severly weakened at home.

Norfolk always springs to mind, but I can't recall if there were any unmarried sons of suitable age at the time.

Edit:
A bit of research brings William Howard to light, Queen Elizebeth's spy master! He would have been 14 in 1524, an almost perfect age.

Wasn't Philip's marriage to Mary largely inspired by England's Protestantism and his own desire (alongside Mary's) to use an Anglo-Spanish connection to prevent the restoration of the Church of England and any further slide away from Rome? Marriages between monarchs were very rare, I doubt that Mary would choose to marry a Hapsburg monarch in TTL with no real threat of England converting under an ascendant Catholic regency council and with Mary's Catholic mother still alive. In general, personal unions were viewed as A Bad Thing unless the states involved had a lot in common or a good reason to join together, which England and Spain...didn't. Even if the Hapsburgs like the idea because it helps them surround France, it's almost certain to be vetoed by Mary's court, and she's unlikely to grow up thinking positively of the match. Rather, she would be aware that for...no real gain for England whatsoever, frankly...she would be sacrificing England's status as an emerging power in order to essentially voluntarily become "just another Spanish/Austrian possession".
