Henry Stuart lives to become King

WI James 1st of England 6th of Scotland had his first son live to become King and provide heirs.

Would that prevent the English Civil War.

What would be the balance of power between Parliament and Monarchy?

Great question. I don't know enough to say one way or the other although it seems likely that the Civil War wouldn't have happened because Charles seemed to be over-compensating for living in his brother's shadow. Henry was fantastically popular if the accounts of his funeral are to be believed, which struck me as Diana-esque when I read about it.

Sure Henry would be in hindsight perhaps a better king than Charles. But, one needs to remember that Charles I was actually the first king to be raised within the fold of the CoE; Edward VI doesn't count given the fact he never reigned personally and also his dad's religious flipflopping. Henry Frederick, on the other hand, was more in the vein of Scots Presbyterianism AFAIR. So, more stringent measures against the Catholics (maybe), a royal support of the Puritans (maybe), a Protestant queen (definitely) - Marie Eleonora of Brandenburg, OTL mom to Christina of Sweden was mentioned - since Henry apparently declared along the lines of "I will not share my bed with another religion".

I wonder if it might help the cause of Sir Walter Raleigh avoid the headsman's axe?
