Henry A. Wallace President

Okay, some rules with this.

1. After FDR's terms, if possible. This rule will be removed if that's demonstrated to be impossible.
2. Do make sure he sticks to his principles. I know this sounds bizarre, but just putting this in for sure. So, he'll try to prevent the Cold War, among other things.

Otherwise, show me what you got. Get this guy to Presidency!

No, he just can't become President until afterwards. So, he can't go the Truman route, unless that's unfortunately the only way. But, if a POD in 1901 somehow helps in some bizarre way, sure.

So he just can't assume from the VPship?

Btw the Cold War will happen as long as Stalin is around. Truman, Byrnes, and Wallace were all pro-Soviet but each of them ditched that (in that order) as Stalin's instrangience became apparent.

Well if you put Wallace in the WH before he figures the Soviets out (IE 1940s vs 50s/60s) we won't have a Cold War because he'd have supported Stalin running the world LOL

You do have to give the man credit for admitting he was wrong, all too rare in politics.

I edited my post. I like him too, but I like Truman more.
Also, FaT is so out of character for Henry Wallace it ain't even funny.

What I was saying was, as far as I know, that's the only TL with him as President out there.

Wallace had seen the true face of communism with the Korea-war.He admitted, that he was wrong and supported in later times republican candidates like Eisenhower and Nixon. Let say he has his "Damaskus" with the communists earlier (propablythe Soviets mess up his visit in the USSR). He is already a anti-communist at the end of the war and returns to the Republicans in 1946. 1952 Eisenhower don´t run and Taft wins the nomination. To balance the ticket, Wallace as a liberal, pro-New Deal Republican becomes VP. Taft wins the election, but dies some month later. Wallace becomes president.

To be fair I don't think it's out of any hatred for Wallace, he's just the most realistic (and obviously that term's used lightly even at the very start of FaT) chance of creating a Stalinist victory in WW2 and a hard right reaction in America.

To follow rule 1, here is my try: the 1948 election is basically as is (Truman, Dewey, Thurmond, Wallace) except- all the embarrassing stuff is not leaked to the press, and many democrats abandon Truman to support Wallace the progressive. Wallace can't win outright, but, with Thurmond winning the entire south, he picks up enough states to get ahead of Truman in the EC.

Dewey 40%, 267 EV. Truman 30% 61 EV. Wallace 20% 62 EV. Thurmond 10% 145 EV.

With the election thrown in the House, the decision is made by the 81st (democrat) congress. Faced with the choice of the top three electoral winners, and they vote in Wallace over the republican and the Dixiecrat.

I think if he is president, Wallace figures out the Soviets much much sooner, say 1945. So foreign policy is the same as OTL. In domestic policy Wallace is a more ambitious liberal than Truman. The big change comes with Wallace's weak political skills.

Basically this.
