Henri V likes the tricolour

after the Second French Empire royalists became a majority in the National Assembly the Legitimists and Orléanists both thought Henri, comte de Chambord should be made king, however Henri wouldn't take the Crown unless France gave up the tricolour and started using the fleur-de-lis, the National Assembly wouldn't do it and formed the Third Republic to wait for Henri to die.

so what if Henri liked the tricolour, and takes the Crown in 1872? what does the rain of Henri V look like? does the French Monarchy survive through to today? does Henri V mess it all up?

I'm not sure he would have made a good king. He didn't even have the ability to think of just getting the throne, then changing the flag later. That lack of imagination and pure stubbornness usually does not a rational and particularly competent leader make.

Alternatively, what if by chance Chambord had died earlier than in OT, say 1874 or 1875? The monarchists were already waiting for it to happen so that they could place the more republican and modern Comte de Paris on the throne instead, as most saw him as the childless Chambord's heir.
IMO, the French monarch would have indeed survived to this day, due to the pliable nature of Paris, and we could very well be looking at a continental style constitutional monarchy.
But as far as Chambord becoming king, I really think he was too conservative for the tastes of most, and even if he'd have renounced the flag of Henri IV, it would have just been a matter of time until a new republic was proclaimed.
