"Heldentod" 1918: Kaiser Wilhelm II dies in battle

In 1918 high ranking German generals suggested to Kaiser Wilhelm to intentionally die in battle in order to save the monarchy. They thought, that the "Koenigstod" and "Heldentod" would have an enormous propaganda effect, which would help the monarchy to survive. As we know, the Kaiser didn´t seek "martyrdom" an fled to Belgium while munity soldiers were looking for him. Even the most conservative officers had no love lost for the monarchy afterwards. What if the Kaiser did, what he was suggested by the generals to do ?

Too late. By that time, Wilhelm and the Hohenzollerns had become completely irrelevant, as had happened to the rest of the German kings, princes and princeletts.
