Al Michaels: We are here today in Lake Placid, the premier ski resort of the Second American Republic, to watch what is shaping up to be an excellent hockey game between the German Reich and the SAR. And the starting lines are preparing to play. For the SAR, we are going to see Mark Johnson of Madison, Wisconsin playing center, with Rob McClanahan and Steve Christoff on either side. Mike Ramsay and Ken Morrow will be on Defense, and Steve Janaszak will be between the pipes. For the Germans, Franz Beckenbauer will be at center, with Rainer Phillip and Gerd Müller on either side and Udo Kiessling and Klaus Auhuber on Defense, and Wilhelm Treitschke in goal.
[3:42]
Oh, wow, another near miss from Auhuber. The SAR has to get its act together if it wants to win this game.
[14:12]
Is it just me, or is McClanahan looking a little sluggish today? Must be because of that fight with O'Callahan of New England last week.
[34:20]
Goal from Buzz Schneider! The SAR still has quite a hole to climb out of though.
[52:09]
Well, we can see here that the SAR's selection of Mike Bullard was a bust. Janaszak is also very shaky tonight.
[60:00]
And there goes the final buzzer. Germany will win this one handily, 6 to 2. This means that barring a very strong performance from the Nordic Union tomorrow, the Germans will win their 2nd Olympic Gold Medal in hockey.
Wilhelm Treitschke, Goalie for HK Ingolstadt and the German Reich.
