Have President's Day Treated Like the Queen's Birthday/Fourth of July

Given that we idolize the Founders and especially Washington, it's wired that Presidents Day is not a huge deal in the US. So how would we go about having President's Day treated with the same celebration as the Queen's Birthday in Britain or like a mini Fourth of July?

We don't really do much for the Queen's Birthday. There's a Trooping of the Colour I think, but that's about it.

American media always made it seem like y'all go all out

American media tends to make a bigger deal about the monarchy and related events, than we do.
I watch the Trooping the Colour if it's on in the room, but otherwise it's just another day. Couldn't actually tell you what the date of the Queen's birthday is off the top of my head.

Its not really a big event, there are some events on TV, but a lot of people do not pay that much attention to it. As I recall the Queen has two birthdays, an official one, a date which is not her actual birthday but just a state occasion where those events take place, and her actual birthday, which is mainly a private event. I cannot tell you when either of them are.The only annual national celebration which most people get involved in is probably bonfire night, and that isnt even a public holiday.

Nah. Jubilees and weddings and such we do the whole thing, but for the Official Birthday (June - in theory so no matter when the monarch's birthday is, they get to celebrate with good weather in the summer) it's just a parade on TV and that's pretty much it. I'm sure there are formal dinners and such, but no massive events for the public to get behind.

I sort of wonder why. I mean, I'm sure if they organised something people would turn up to watch.

Here in Canada we have Victoria Day which I guess is the closest thing to American Presidents Day. Essentially its just a day off where some people light fireworks in the evening.

We don't do either of those things on Presidents Day. Unless you work at a bank, you probably don't have the day off today

Really? A day off in honour of the Presidents sounds like a good idea (I personally like Lincoln and his big hat). Especially with all the dumb new civic holidays they are making (ie. Today is "Family Day" here in Ontario, whatever the hell that means, I asssume different States in the US have some similarly inane holidays).

PS: Probably more than half of Canadians couldn't tell you who "Victoria" is.
