What if New England had become an independent Confederation due to the Hartford Convention?

Here I think New York would join the rest of New England, as the bulk of the upstate population was Yankee and New York City had been a Tory bastion during the war.

How powerful a country would it be?
 
As the Hartford convention preceded the Erie Canal there is the possibility that upstate NY would go but don’t think it’s likley. Trade flowed down the Hudson to NYC and economic consideration would trump the social and cultural differences between upstate and downstate. The canal was survey and often discussed by this time but work did not start for a few more years. After there is no chance
