Happy marriage of Margaret of Austria and Philibert of Savoy

Say Margaret of Austria, daughter of Emperor Maximilian I, is more lucky with her second marriage-she has few kids with Philibert, who, of course, avoids his hunting accident (say both live to 1534). So not being widowed again Margaret does not return to the Netherlands, she is never proposed to Henry VII and is not made regent for her nephew after death of Philip (assuming his death in Spain is not butterflied away). H7 would still have CoA and Juana la Loca to distract his attention, so he's still likely to not marry again so I'll leave this topic unchanged.
And about the kids: say they have 5, three surviving:
*Margaret, born 1502
*Philip (1504-1508)
*Philibert, born 1505
*Mary, born 1508
*Louis (1510-1512)

Margaret could end as Queen of Poland as second wife of Sigismund I, IOTL Maximilian proposed him his another granddaughter, Eleanor, but he widthrew, due to fact, that she was promised to Manuel of Portugal, he couldn't refuse her hand to Manuel without causing troubles for his grandson in Spain, and Max had no other spare, marriagable granddaughters, ITTL Max would want Siggie to marry his Savoy granndaughter-such match would seem more likely to prevent Sigismund from seeking for anti-Habsburg alliance again than Bona Sforza. Bona could marry her Sforza cousin, Massimiliano, thus increasing chances of Sforzas to keep power in Milan.
Now return to Netherlands-lack of Maggie here would influence lives of many people, her nephew, nieces and even Boleyn family. Who is going to take regency over Burgundia Inheritance?

It seems that for the time being Maximilian would be sending Imperial functionaries to the Netherlands as regency council. The results may end up being incredibly messy.

Perhaps Maria of Savoy could wed Massimiliano/Francesco II Sforza. The guy tried and tried to get hitched but no one wanted him as in-law.
He was proposed for Beatriz of Portugal (who might marry Filiberto of Savoy here), he tried for Mary Tudor the Elder, Maria and Margherita Palaoilogina of Montferrat (he was sort of alternating with the duke of Mantua), Bona Sforza was also an option (1512) after her elder sister and brother died and her mom realized that a match to Ferdinand of Austria wasn't going to come off. And then, by the time he gets a wife, he's gone loopy (at least thats my understanding of it, Karl V made some remarks about how he wasn't happy marrying Kristina of Denmark to a madman).

A lasting Sforza Milan is one of my favourite underused Renaissance ideas. So please can we make this happen?

Maria of Savoy has the added bonus that she's Max's granddaughter plus by the time she comes of age, her cousins have snatched up most of the important crowned heads of Europe and Milan is always in Habsburg sights.

Wouldn't de Croý simply have charge from the getgo? Rather than having to duke it out with Margarethe over Karl V?

I'm planning to make Margherita di Savoia better version of Bona Sforza, she'd be equally capable, but would avoid some of her mistakes, and would be better mother than Bona (that part would be easy).
Max would initially still propose same candidates as IOTL (his Savoy granddaughter would still be too young at the time of death of Barbara Zápolya), but Sigismund would not be in hurry, mourning after his beloved Barbara would take some time, and in 1517 it would be clear, that Eleanor of Austria is not available. In meantime Margaret of Savoy would reach marriagable age and Max would preffer her over Bona as wife for Sigismund. In 1518, when Sigismund remarried IOTL, she'll be 16 yo.

A wedding between Bona and Massimiliano Sforza (if it will happen between 1512-1515, maybe butterflying the loss of Milan in 1515) will do a lot of good in increasing their claim on Milan if they will have children. Or we can go with a 1516 wedding between Francesco II Sforza and Bona who will give them a lot of time for having children and continuing the Sforza line (and Christina of Denmark here will be the imperial match who Bona and Francesco will secure for their eldest son and heir). Maria of Savoy is fine but Bona Sforza is older (a year younger than Ercole Massimiliano and a year older than Francesco), richer, with her own lands and a rival claim to Milan (plus while they are related as their fathers were uncle and nephew and their mothers first cousins they are not so closely related).

I think Margherita will offered as main candidate also in 1515, sure she is 13 years old but Charles and Maximilian had married by proxy in 1514 the 13 years old Isabella to the King of Denmark (and that was the reason for which they had only Eleanor available as Mary was engaged in Hungary and Catalina too young) plus at that time a match in Portugal for Eleanor would be only with her cousin John not to King Manuel (her aunt Mary died only in March of 1517)...

Edit: Eleanor naturally was available only because her fiance (Henry VIII) had married her aunt Catherine instead and then the King of France had choised Mary of England (who was older) instead of her (and in any case she would have likely already widowed as Louis XII's in OTL was already dead).
With Margherita available to offer in Poland is likely who talk for a wedding between Eleanor and John of Portugal would be stronger and maybe they would have been married at least by proxy before his mother's death

Margaret Queen of Poland, unlike Bona, would not push for coronation of her son during Sigismund I's lifetime (it was not forbidden, mostly because no one ever tried it before, but it was also unneeded-as hereditary Grand Duke of Lithuania, son of Sigismund would be elected without problems. And it caused unrest among nobility and lead to change of method of royal election-Sigismund Augustus was elected by whole Sejm, and it was decided, that next kings would be elected by whole szlachta . Not even mentioning, that coronation of Sigismund Augustus was one of main causes of later Chicken War). Royal couple would still try to increase Royal income, like IOTL, that would not change. But foreign policy of Poland and Lithuania would be more pro-Habsburg, Margaret would not let her daughter to marry anti-King of Hungary.

So Margherita would marry Sigismund in 1518, like Bona did IOTL. In 1520 their first son, named Sigismund after father, is born. He is followed by Sophia (b. 1522), short living Casimir (born and died 1524) and Anna (b. 1527). With one surviving son succession is clear and there is no option to divide Poland and Lithuania between Jagiellon brothers. Sigismund junior would marry his cousin Elizabeth of Austria like IOTL. Queen Margaret would treat her much better than Bona, so despite her epilepsy she could survive a bit longer ITTL. Sigismund II, who is not the same man as his OTL analogue, would not sacrifice his authority and would not marry his mistress (so ITTL writers and filmmakers would find him more boring) would likely marry Elizabeth's sister Anna as his second wife.

Who does Bona Sforza marry here?
Why not have her marry Ferdinand, duke of Calabria?
Because Massimiliano or still better Francesco Sforza are much logical match who will prevent the extinction of the Sforza’s family... She is between them in age, their cousin and heiress of a rival claim (who can reinforce the one of her husband), she is also a rich heiress... If she marry Massimiliano in the short time he will be the Duke or Francesco after Massimiliano’s capture and abdication, likely Christina of Denmark will be of the right age for marrying their eldest son.

The Duke of Calabria can marry Mary of Savoy, Margherita’s younger daughter who right now has not yet an husband

Who does Bona Sforza marry here?

Her mom was pushing for either the duke of Calabria (after her elder sister died), or whichever of Fernando II's grandsons succeeded in Italy. Then she changed tack and offered her to Massimiliano/Francesco after her own son died. And when they lost Milan, she turned to Leo X to try and get it sorted out. Leo offered her to the duke of Savoy (who WAS interested IIRC), as well as considering her for either his brother, Giuliano, or his nephew, Lorenzo (in neither of which was Bona interested). So, IMO, if she doesn't get her cousin, she's in no shortage of suitors.

Actually, I forgot to say in the French wikipedia, she was said to have a still birth due to the death of the Duke of Savoy, she might have that child survive and have couple more.

Bona Sforza would make an interesting second wife for Louis XII of France. Maybe in a scenario where she decides that she'd rather have her chidren via France take Milan rather than give her claim to her cousin?

AFAIK Margaret and Philip had a happy (royal/noble) marriage, albeit a short one. Given her OTL bad luck, that would be nice for her. Furthermore Margaret and their sisters, were the few ones, who could set Charles and Ferdinand straight (or broker a deal between them).

IMHO the only bad thing about this, is that Charles and the other children of Philip and Joan (Juana/Jeanne/Johanna), which were left in the Burgundian Lands, do not get a surrogate mother as IOTL.
