Danielovitch the elder (38), of course: America's longest-lived president is still going strong, as is Danielovitch 42. Issur Danielovitch's victory over President Nixon in 1972 is one of the biggest political upsets in American history, but even if he'd been able to seek a third term 1980 surely wouldn't have gone his way. That was Reagan's year, and after two terms of Reagan and one of Bush, the young Michael Danielovitch defeated an incumbent just as his father had.
Danielovitch almost went into acting, and I'm curious as to how things would have played out if he'd stayed out of politics. Suppose Nixon had won reelection in 1972; does he get impeached/removed/sent to prison for ordering the Watergate break-in? Despite being the only ex-president sent to prison, Nixon managed to rehabilitate his image fairly well in his last few years, with help from the Danielovitches (Danielovitch 42 inviting Nixon to the White House was certainly a shock). If Nixon had still been president when the story hit, would he have tried to derail it, possibly digging himself in deeper?
There's a lot of tangential what-ifs here. In any case, here's to Uncle Issur's continued good health...
