Hanovarian Prisoners during the 1745 Jacobite Rising.

Following the Jacobite victory in the Battle of Prestonpans, all but some 170 of the Government forces were taken prisoner. Does anyone have any knowledge of the fate that met them?

I ask as I find it curious that this side of the rising is little mentioned, and I have not heard of any prison camps.

If anyone can give me an answer I would be grateful.

From memory, I believe that most of the prisoners, apart from the mortally wounded, were incarcerated in Logierait Prison. By the summer of 1746 the remaining survivors had been released.

As to treatment, I expect it would have standard mid-18th century style, viz. excellent for any nobility, quite good for the gentry and fairly miserable for the remainder.
