Habsburg World

My guess is that you mean they beat the Bourbon's when they entered the war for 1635.
The first effect would be the removal of Richlieu if France lost much territory (and remember the Habsburgs got to within shouting distance of Paris), with the ramifications that would bring.

Secondly the Counter Reformation would be stronger as more German states re-find the Catholic faith.

Lastly (for me) would have major effect on UK, as Charles would have more support from Parliment for funding wars etc. if the Habsburgs were more sucessful, hence puting off the Civil War (if not removing it entirely).

I have the impression that at that time OTL the world was indeed nearly a Habsburg World, especially under Charles V when the dynasty still had one branch.

If the Habsburgs as HRE manage to re-gain territory for the empire (for instance the bishoprics Metz, Toul and Verdun), then it will strengthen their position in the empire

You seem to have a pretty good point. however, Sweden would be negatively affected as well.

The trouble is: The Habsburgs had several different objectives:
  1. Re-catholizing Germany, if not more
  2. Strenghtening the power of the HREmperor
  3. Fighting its opponent France

Too many people were interested in the Habsburgs losing.

Well let's just say they had an alliance with France (or had a dynastical unio with it). How does that affect things?

You are right, yet their defeat in the war caused the start of their decline.

They didn't succeed in the Empire as a whole, but the Austrian branch did strengthen their position in their own territory, like making Bohemia their hereditary possession; though this further increase of Hausmacht from the Habsburgs and other imperial dynasties could be seen as a loss. Overall others did profit much more, however the re-conquest of Hungary by the Austrian Habsburgs did make them more important or even one of European Great Powers. In other words this war was in hindsight more the start of the decline of the Spanish branch and the family as a whole, but at the same time the Austrian branch was still rising in importance.
