The Stg45 had many of the features of the later G3 rifle:

In fact the G3 was based on the postwar research of the team that was working on the Stg45 at wars end. What if something like the G3, perhaps a later model Stg45, was produced sooner and distributed in 1944 in significant quantities? I know that it wouldn't be a war winner or even stopper at this point, but what would be the effect on tactics and weapons development during the war? Does this effect the Allied postwar weapons development, ie no M14? For the sake of argument lets say that the conference that let to the first prototype of the Stg44 is held a year earlier and Hitler finds out about it sooner and demands it be given the full resources of the Reich.
