2008: The Grass Was Greener

The death of Pink Floyd's keyboardist Richard Wright on September 15th, 2008, came as a shock to his fellow bandmates and fans alike. During the time of his death, he was working on a mostly instrumental solo album of which he had two names for at the time: The Big Spliff and The Endless River. With Richard's death, guitarist David Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason announced the end of Pink Floyd, and also their plans to finish Richard's solo output based on notes he had for his plans on the album, including his plans to have David sing in the last song on the album.

The Endless River by Richard Wright was released on January 1st, 2009 to much commercial success.

The Endless River

The Endless River is the second and final studio album by Richard Wright. Released posthumously on New Years' of 2009, being completed by Pink Floyd bandmates David Gilmour and Nick Mason. It is an entirely instrumental album (save for the last song, Louder Than Words, sung by David Gilmour). Due to the fact of it being the last album of Rick and technically Pink Floyd, it was a massive commercial success, although reviews were mixed to positive.

Postlude

Well ladies and gentlemen, that's it. Gummaumma has ended. From this point onwards things are basically the same as they are in OTL, save for The Endless River not being released in 2014, Roger Waters' 2010-13 Wall tour having the same setlist as the 1981-82 tour, of course with The Ballad of Jean-Charles de Menezes in the setlist and the former band members (in particular Roger Waters with David Gilmour) being on better terms then they are in OTL.

And with Gummaumma done, so does my stay in Alternate History Discussion. I will still lurk here from time to time, liking and checking timelines that interest me and such, but in terms of making my own timelines, I want to move onto greater and better things.

So what are said "greater and better things", you may ask? A blog dedicated to music alternate history in a similar format to my ATLs here with a linear timeline in all that, however with essentially any band I want. I believe the blog format will give me more creative freedom compared to the forum post format, and you all can still participate in discussion through comments and such.

With that being said, thank you everyone for reading and participating, and I will see you on Something Creative.

I will be a regular reader of Something Creative, it's a shame to see you leave here after some decent mixes and a decent TL. Will you do Off-White 2.0 on Something Creative?

I will incorporate some elements from Off-White into Something Creative, yes. Not the main premise of The Beatles breaking up during the The Beatles sessions, but something similar.
