Blaine would be better in a few ways than Cleveland. Mostly in terms of 'the bloody shirt' as it was Blaine's defeat that nixed any care for the South from the Republicans.

His corruption was overstated.

He had an initial appearance of being incorruptible, which was then shattered.

He was not among the worst.
