Ground uses for the Mk108 30mm

Considering how the Mk108 30mm automatic cannon used bt the LW is very similar to current Automatic Granade Launchers, and since those have proved to be extremely useful recently, could the Mk108 have been used as a ground weapon in WW2, and how?
I see it, for example, replacing the 37mm in the SdKfz 251/10, to provide supressive fire support for the PzG platoons, or arming recce vehicles.
A tripod mounted version (I'm thinking of a mounting along the lines of the one used by the italian 47/32 infantry gun) could be used by infantry units.

I thought they were testing that, but didn't get a unit ready by the end of the war?

Regardless it think the existing ground based cannon were just as good.

It might need to be reworked to suit ground use but it would provide the kind of supressive fire the Mk19 does now, and that no other weapon of the time in that weight class could.

what its all about

Just a photo to show how compact it was
