Gross DDR

Before I ask this question, let me state I know Stalin would not have done this. I am asking if the butterflies made him want a stronger buffer state with the west, what would happen if Stalin let the DDR keep most of the Prussian lands over the Oder with the exception of east Prussia.

My map might have derailed your question :p

But as far as I know the Soviets were in the drivers seat in Eastern Europe, as long as the USSR was alright with the German border staying where it was I doubt the poles or the Western allies would have anything to say about it if they were adament about it

Mos likely Poland would get the slavic speaking scraps of Silesia too.
As for the effects, DDR has a bit better start, since they now have a port (Stettin, Rostock had no real port until it was build but the East Germans). Also, it is a bit stronger demographically, and the people that were displaced in OTL stay, and work for the east bloc. Poland is weaker - unless they somehow retain their eastern territories, and since that too is only Stalin's decision, and we are playing with his mind already, it's not impossible. After the eastern bloc falls apart, DDR will be even more of a drain on the western economy - maybe they even decide it would e too much . Stettin is a much more prosperous city than in OTL, whole Pomerania (i mean the historical duchy, not Gdańsk) is better off. Polish diaspora may not be imported form Yugoslavia, Romania and others to Poland. Modern polish politicians can't use certain rhetoric. That's all i could think of so early.
