Greek Islam

maybe it would be holy along the lines of Qom, rather than Mecca?

Maybe. But as I said, perfectly evadable since there is no basis for it IOTL. I mean, Greek Muslims don't have to be Shia, for example. Heck Persia was originally a Sunni country...

Hmm, I wonder how much of Orthodox Christianity would be found in a Greek Islam. Would something like the heysychasm, for example, have an Islamic analogue? Obviously, there are probably going to be some aspects of Greek culture that would survive in the Greek form of Islam, but maybe there will be areas of Orthodox Christianity that could be adapted to an Islamic setting.

I've detailed this abit in my "Eternal Blue Sky" TL, basicly cut off from Persia thanks to the invasion of the Tengriists, Islam absorbs the Hellenism from Syria, the Levent,North Africa and Egypt where now they have a very large majority of Orthodox and Copt Christians amongst their peoples -unlike if they had Persia where most would eventually convert to Islam- so the influence by Hellenistic society would probably back up a Islamic Golden Age-tred much longer then OTL and somewhat democratic (over blood line) in choosing the Caliph, as well as a Hellenistic inspired mystical Sufi deveriation when you get into some elements of the East Church's doctrine.
