Greek Constantinople evolution challenge

In 1914 the population of Istanbul was 909,978

Muslims 560,434
Greeks 205,762
Armenians 84,093
Others 56,689

In European Turkey the total number of Greeks was 309,657 in 1919, also there were 118,000 Armenians and 45,000 Jews.

So there would probably be a population exchange. In OTL 1.5 million Greeks left Turkey and another 500,000 Muslims left Thrace during 1919-1924.

This is in the assumption that everything remains like otl until 1914.

Having a higher initial population doesn't guarantee control. The Turks after all began as minority in Greece in Anatolia and in Constantinople.

So we've established that its possible - we just need to know now what the effects would be.

For starters, where would the new border be? Just draw the line in the middle of the straights, or would Greece get the other shore of the Sea of Marmara, sort of a reverse of the OTL situation with Turkey in Thrace? Would this effect Greece's control of the area of Symrna - would they hold it, or still lose it?

From there, the political effects - would this have a negative effect on Turkey? Atturk certainly cemented his control by pushing the Greeks out of Asia Minor, but would failing to push back into Constantinople have effects on his rule? Conversely, with Greece in control of Constantinople, might it avoid the fall of the Greek Monarchy, and the following military dictatorship? Would Greece be stronger economically, or geopolitically? Might we see Greece reclaim the mantle of Byzantium? Or push its weight around in the Balkans? Or better thwart Italian advances in WWII?

Best thing would have been for Britain and other powers to give them Constantinople, but not allow any annexations in Asia Minor and impose a transfer of populations for the purpose of making the new borders and internal stability possible and safe. More easy to avoid war between the two and keep a balance in eastern mediteranean between the two. I don't know of asiatic shores of straits and marmara though.

Would there still be a population transfer without greek defeat by turks? Without it both greek and turk states will have many big problemes and conflicts, internal but could also lead to war.
