Greek and Italian revolution start and consider themselves as western/eastern rome

What if, the Greek and Italian revolution occurs around the same time, during the late 18th century, with the Italian revolution occurring from the City of Rome and the Greek revolution starting from the city of Constantinople.

What happens next is both sides managing to maintain itself and secure Italy proper and Greece proper.

What happens next is both sides found itself as a refounded Republic of Rome at the same time.

And realizing both sides declared themselves as the successor of the Roman empire, decided to call each other respectfully as the Western and Eastern Roman Republic. Both sides follow the basic principle of the Roman Republic, such as a senate, the role of a Consul and so on.

What happens next?

Btw, Assume that the Ottoman empire is too weak to respond properly to the situation, which a lot of Empires tend to do.

Although some of you might want to find some way to unify the two Roman republic.

Well, Meh.

Istanbull by the 18th has become overwhealmingly Muslim-Turk. So little chance of Istanbul revolting-any revilt int he city would result in a crackdown on the Greek Quarter.

Hmm, perhaps we can change it to include the greek revolution succeeding in taking Constantinople, when the Ottaman got involved in a losing war with France...

You could have a Greek revolution occur somewhere else in Greece, however, but Constantinople -- it might be good for propaganda reasons but there's no way the Ottomans are going to be weak enough to allow a revolution in their capital.

It seems for the 'Western' Roman Empire that there will be a lot of people in Europe with interests at stake in this new country. Remember, OTL Italian unification wasn't easy and had a lot of international involvement.
