Greater Serbia, not Yugoslavia

What if the Serbs decided to go the planned route of just annexing areas after WWI instead of pretending that the Croats and Slovenes mattered ?(Didn't even fake it for the Bosniacs, Germans, Hungarians, and Montenegrins.)

Well, then the annexations of Slovenia and Croatia would be problematic. They might even form a Yugoslavia of their own.

Well, if Serbs did what they actually planned ( annexing of B&H, Dalmatia, Slavonia and Vojvodina ) there's a big chance that they could easily suceed and have a Greater Serbia. Pašić was for that solution.
OTOH regent Alexander was too greedy and wanted Croatia and Slovenia too.
;)
Croatia would maybe end like a Hungarian puppet, and about Slovenia who knows, maybe Austria, maybe Italy, maybe some sort of union with rump Croatia...

Do you think that the announcements from the Slavs the former Austro-Hungarian parts of what would become Yugoslavia may have helped Serbia keep Dalmatia against the promises of the Entente to give it to Italy? Might more land stay with Austria?

There's quite a difference though - if the choice given to the SSCS becomes "greater Serbia or fight", Serbia doesn't have the energy to take it by force.

I'd expect a Turkey-like situation where Yugoslavia (i.e. SSCS), probably grabbing Montenegro and the Banat as well, fights against the Serbs. Worst case for Serbia is that it will be dragged in more or less by force (worstest case scenario for Serbia is that it loses Macedonia and Kosovo already in the 20s)

Best case for Serbia is that it works, but implodes with the assassination of the king or the crown prince. Yugoslav wars in the 30s. Greater Serbia would be the most unstable nation in Europe.

Well the negotiations with Italy will be...interesting, in OTL Wilson favored Yugoslavia stating that Dalmatia and the other land requested by the italian were in reality slavs (even if Belgrade ask even for Gorizia and Trieste). With Serbia forcibly annexing Croatia-Slavonia (or at least trying) the situation can easily escalating, with the italian forces refusing to leave Dalmatia and Wilson don't having the diplomatic leaf of the self-determination of the people to justify his decision, so Rome can be tempted with a fait accomplì, basically a Fiume expedition but on greater scale and with the target to get all the territory promised by the Treaty of London.
The situation can escalate even in Albania (some parts were promised to Serbia), during this period the Italian war weary leave a cause of a rebellion, but with the Serbs on the war footing Rome can be persuaded to remain or the Albania choose the lesser evil and become an italian protectorate so to not be divided between Serbia and Greece.

The french and italians were both pretty active in Albania to make sure that Greece kept its hands off the country. Albania will stay intact.
