Greater Romania

So how possible was it to have Romania in 1918 get the serbian banat too and at least more of maramures in the north to get Tisa border all the way up there? But more importantly, I want a timeline where after 1918 Romania arranges for population exchanges with some of her neighbours, since only 71% of population was actually ethnic romanian, even without those extra lands I mentioned. How many romanians and aromanians/vlachs were there in Ukraine,Bulgaria,Serbia,Hungary,Czechoslovakia and Greece( I know there is no border with this last one)? Of course hungarians, jews, germans and gypsies will not be included in such transfers of population, but only the slavic and greek elements. Please provide numbers, so I can maybe think of a timeline and changes in history to make it possible. And also state your opinions on possibilities and difficulties or obstacles.

I would think the only way to do it is if the Yugoslavia idea collapses into civil war. There already WAS a war between Serbia and Montenegro, basically seeing the latter abandoned by all its former allies and allowing the Serbs to purge it. If the Croats and Slovenes had revolted at what they saw as Serbian aggrandisement, or the direction of rule had become evidently Serbian to the exclusion of the others earlier, then the state might have collapsed.

Romania could then have an expedition. Of course, Hungary might try something as well, one way or another

A lot of villages in Banat where divided based on whether Romanians outnumbered Serbs or vice-versa, regardless if 97% of the population were something else (e.g.Germans).

Thus, getting even a minor but uniform increase in Romanian inhabitants in the area (maybe refugees as a result of the war) can result in the border being much further west, though not the whole Serbian Banat by a long shot, since Serbs outnumbered Romanians 3-1 in 1910.

Maybe another idea would be for Austria-Hungary to deport a large part of the ethnic Serbian population who lived close to the front during the war, ala ethnically Janapese US citizens in WW2.

That's why I suggested transfers of population. The whole banat had been promised to romania. How many romanians and aromanians where in balkans and ukraine, outside greater Romania around 1920?

Circa 231,000 Romanians (including Aromanians) dispersed throughout Yugoslavia, circa 57,000 Romanians in Bulgaria.

Come on, doesnìt anybody know how large the romanian population in Ukraine was in early 20th century? Also which of these countries was willing to exchange minorities with Romania?

Uprooting large populations that had been there for centuries and shifting them miles away was not a popular thing! The people would largely have preferred to be a minority in their home than an unwelcome influx into a nation state that has removed them from their ancestral lands

Czechoslovakia during 1930 census counted app. 15 000 Romanians. From them app. 11-12 000 in Easter part of Ruthenia.
Actually I believe Czechoslovakia offered Ruthenia or its parts to Romania in 1939 but Romanians refused.

Admittedly, OTL was full of nationalist assholes who didn't give a crap about what actual people thought in their quests for ethnically pure and (highly contradictory) territorially maximal states...

Yeah sure a few nationalist assholes, but that was minority tendency right? Ethnic conflicts happened where there is ethnic diversity and still do, because often ethnic groups have different values and interests and intolerance and violence are not so rare. Politically correct morons never get tired of their predictable cliches.
