Greater Portugal and the largest Portuguese empire

Portugal getting to Galicia would that affect the Portuguese empire?
With galicia portugal would have more resources?

Portugal colonizes more parts of Asia like maybe Taiwan, Indochina, parts of Indonesia, Philippines?

Well, Portugal could be more successful in dominating Indian Ocean Trade, so maybe Sri Lanka? Or further colonisation of East Africa?

The Dutch-Portuguese war was the turning point for the empire imo.

The Iberian Union put the British against the Portuguese and allowed the Dutch to take large parts of the Portuguese territories in Asia. You either have to butterfly the conflict away or make the Portuguese position in Asia stronger.

In theory a monopoly on the trade in Asia-Pacific could make them very rich.

EDIT; To be honest, the biggest problem is the population issue. To keep the empire going for longer, you need more Portuguese people. The lack of manpower was a big problem.

We want Portugal getting Galicia before they start colonising, right? Because Galicia will legally be a separate kingdom under Portugal until the two states are united (much later probably).

Hence why Galicia is needed. In the late 18th century, it seems Galicia had about 1.3 million people to Portugal's 3.3 million. While there's reasons for that ratio, like Portugal's overseas activities and colonialism, adding those extra Galicians to Portugal's empire certainly can't hurt.

Is Portuguese Empire the new ACW on this forum? I see new threads every day! (not complaining though)

I'd go with have Albuquerque live longer. He died of exhaustion/fever in 1515. If he didn't you'd have a solid Hormuz and Aden, possibly a better footing in India and maybe even a Portuguese Mecca or Egypt
