Greater Christian missionary effort in Asia.

What if the Colonial powers of Europe had more interest in Christening their Asia colonies then in OTL? So being more like Spain and Portugal (Philippines and East Timor respectively).

What changes would this cause in the colonies and then later decolonization?

It won't end very well in the predominately Muslim East Indies, and Muslim-dominated India. In these areas the elite who were OTL fractured will be united.

It also won't end very well in East Asia, where IOTL missionary efforts were the lightening rod for many nationalist/anti-colonialist movements.

For very good reasons, wherever the Europeans went, they always co-opted pre-existing power structures.

And that's why when gaining independence from the British, Malaysia has nine kings who all vote on who is High King every 5 years :D

For that to dissapear in Malaysia, I'm thinking that the colonials must not be as lenient as the British and be more agressive in stamping out the aristocracy, including the royal families. Only then can they have a more Christinized colony.

So, perhaps a Malaya peninsular controlled by the Spanish, like the Phillipines. However, as previously mentioned, that will be a lightning rod for rebels and bandit kings who are king-wannabes (strictly speaking, a lot of our royals start out as bandit/pirate kings).
