The US really gets behind a nuclear weapons project and builds one by 1943. The war continues pretty much as before, except that negotiations are more successfull and Darlan survives to sign on with the US. Vichy France officially joins the Allies in 1942, and is invaded by Germany. Things continue mostly as before. The US pulls out of Europe after 1944 and the German coup. Russia keeps Eastern Europe after an armistice with Germany. Germany then forms an alliance with the puppet governments of Europe, in mutual fear of the Russians. The Europeans are so broke that the US annexes their colonies and they don't protest because they just want it all to end.
England is bankrupt, so it is taken over by the US after the election of 1944. Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Newfoundland, and assorted islands in the Caribbean, the Pacific, and the Indian ocean follow. Their is some protests in the US, but the other countries want a US alliance.
The Africans are set up as a country because the US has had enough of colonies and just lets them go. South Africa is reduced to Capetown and is majority Dutch speaking, after the Anglos and English speaking 'Colored' leave. America is very blunt about how the 'Colored' are treated since they don't want a war with Africa over the issue and make it plain that they are only in the Anglican Union as long as they behave themselves. English is taught in school and the population tends to immigrate to Australia.
Asianesia is set up by a bunch of independence groups that are afraid that the Colonials will come back and they figure they are stronger together. The political leaders also want to make it harder for their army wings to overthrow the government. The Japanese army gives them their weapons on the instruction of the home government. The Japanese settle for trade with Korea, Taiwan, and southeast Asia because they find out about the atom bomb project and decide that defeat is inevitable anyway, so best to make sure they have access to resources that are not controlled by the Colonial powers. Madagascar signs on with them instead of Africa.
Dar El Islam is a mutual protection pact against the Europeans, the Indians, and the Union of Councils. It's Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, the Northwest Frontier part of India, and the Arab lands. Their only policy is independence from their neighbors. The Arabs are split up by sect, politics, and regions and don't dominate. The armed forces are regional so domination of the minorities would require a war, and it isn't worth it.
China sets up as an alliance against the Communists by the puppet Japanese government and the Nationalists. The Chinese Communists are outnumbered and unsupported by the Russians who are concentrating on Eastern Europe and their front with Greater Switzerland. The US does support the Chinese Nationalists
India just keeps going, annexing Sri Lanka and the Maldives, but not the Mascarenes. Otherwise it's just the Raj with a slightly darker hue. It's stable because the South Indians and the Moslems offset the North Indians.
Latin America federates because everybody else is, and they don't want to be the weakest bunch of countries around. They only confederate their navy and customs services, but then it spreads and they become a real country. Brazil stays out for a while and then joins.
