Inspired by the transition period at BBC News (2013-2019), where they used Helvetica in the graphics.

Above: Irish actor Robert Sheehan as he appeared in promotional material for the 2018 film "Yellow Submarine", directed by Daniel Yates. Often described as a 'reinterpretation' of the original 1969 animated film of the same name, the plot follows the Originals, a struggling liverpudlian rock group, as they are recruited by Captain Freddie (played by Saoirse Ronan), granddaughter of the original Lord Admiral, to defend the psychedelic Pepperland from a returning army of Blue Meanies. The Originals, meant as an emulation of the Beatles, are composed of guitarist Winston (Josh Bolt), bassist Percy (Craig Roberts), backing guitarist Harri (Viveik Kalra) and drummer Richie (Sheehan). The film also stars Andy Nyman as the Chief Meanie, Sean Gilder as Max and Joel Fry as the voice of Jeremy. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr play uncredited roles as members of the Pepperland Orchestra.

Above: production photos of one of the masks used for the Blue Meanies. The film used a mixture of both practical and special effects, inspired by the positive response in part to the use of the former in the third Star Wars trilogy. Most notable were the redesigns of the films antagonists, the Blue Meanies, which received some flak from critics for their rather unsettling appearance, culminating in a child having to be comforted when they were sent into hysterics by a costumed actor attending the premier at the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology. While the original film incorporated the Beatles and their music in a literal sense, Yates chose to remove that element from the story, instead of having the film be a jukebox musical, never making any literal mention of the Beatles or otherwise and choosing to exist within it's own narrative.

"This week's episode is brought to you by Casper. Casper is a sleep brand that makes expertly designed products that help you get your best rest one night at a time. You spend one third of your night sleeping so you should be comfortable - the experts at Casper work tirelessly to make a quality sleep surface that cradles your natural geometry in all the right places. The original Casper mattress combines multiple supportive memory foams for a quality sleep surface with the right amounts of both sink and bounce. Casper also now offers four other mattresses: the Wave, the Essential, the Hybrid-Casper, and the Hybrid-Wave, all at affordable prices because Casper cuts out the middlemen and sells directly to you. There's free shipping and returns in the USSA and Canada and you can be sure of your purchase with Casper's Hundred Night Sleep on it Trial. The Duncan family still heartily endorses the Casper mattresses and pillows - many great naps and many great sleeps were taken on the Casper. They were just comfortable mattresses that helped us sleep better. So the deal is you get fifty dollars towards a select mattress by visiting Casper.com/Revolutions using Revolutions at checkout. That again, get fifty dollars towards select mattresses by visiting Casper.com/Revolutions and using Revolutions at checkout. Terms and conditions apply."

    *Cue Revolutions intro music*

    "Hello, and welcome to Revolutions."

"Episode 10.12 ‘Southern Explosion and the Watts Rebellion."

"Before we start today's episode, let me just make a little correction on last week’s episode that some listeners very kindly pointed out to me. Last time, I said that President Nixon tacitly approved of Governor Wallace’s decision to crack down on the Selma March, but this seems to have been an oversight on my part. Actually, it seems the approval was very much not there... like at all. I don’t know how I made that mistake. Nixon was certainly a racist and did not like the aims of the march, but if nothing else he thought the repression would make America look terrible internationally. My bad. Now, on to the episode..."

(Please ignore all the trampled butterflies, I liked the idea, and yes, transcribing a Mike Duncan ad plug was a tad annoying ;))

The phrase "JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF SINK AND BOUNCE" is seared into my brain from all the Casper plugs

This is so fucking cool. A) I'm listening to Revolutions at this very moment and B) had the same idea to do as an update for my Election Game over on shared Worlds.

    10/10 content

Thanks man, I’ve seen a lot of people on like Kaiserreich posting graphics of YouTube history videos in alternate timelines and I thought it’d be pretty cool to make a mock Revolutions series - I’d love to see your take on one!
