US House.png

The United States House of Representatives in 2061, in a nice visual format. The political situation and the nature of the parties are detailed out in this series of wikiboxes.

Election poster from a world like our own except that there's no Louisiana Purchase. Police reform is a main issue in the Minnesota Sid district, and Slate #7 (there is panachage) for the left-leaning UDC coalition consists of the mother and partner of two police-shooting victims from that state. Creole is only used in some official organization names - Minnesota Sid is mainly an anglophone district (it helps that both of the UDC candidates on Slate #7 are fairly good-looking for politicians).

A propaganda cartoon I made for the timeline I'm working on. I'm still testing the waters with Paint.net. While the maps look better I am having difficulty finding my style. With this one, I minimized the Line Tool to a minimum and went with a new layered method for coloring in the map. I quite like how it turned out.

As for backstory, there really isn't much, I just wanted to do a version of this for my timeline.

It's 5am and I made this for some reason. It's the political "compass" from a series of Wikiboxes I just started, the hope is that all the ideologies defy easy definition by OTL standards and so instead are placed on an alternative political compass than what we're used to. Here you have North-South divides between Identarian and Universalism which means both the difference between nationalism and globalism, as well as concepts of property rights (individual ownership is identarian, group ownership is universalism) with some other implications too. West-East is the difference between Devolution (both decentralised politics as well as personal liberty and the concept of bottom-up political structures, more rural with more power in the legislature) vs Centralisation (literal centralisation, top-down government, more government regulation of behaviour, more urban, more executive power). Parties and ideologies are being slowly explained through wikiboxes but yeah, enjoy:

the_storming_of_snyman_s_nek_by_colorcopycenter-dbxjphm.png

Illustration of the Battle of Snyman's Nek, 28 July 1900. Spearheaded by F.J. Theunissen's field-cornetcy, burghers of the Senekal Commando assault the entrenchments of the Royal Irish Regiment at Snyman's Nek, on the eastern rim of Brandwater Basin. The successful attack, clears the way for a full-scale breakout by the more than 4 000 Free State burghers under Marthinus Prinsloo still trapped by converging British columns in the Brandwater Basin. In conjunction with rearguard actions and diversionary attacks on the other passes out of the Brandwater Basin, Prinsloo's entire Free State force with artillery and wagon train largely intact, escapes with minimal loss to link up with De la Rey's commandos and Steyn's government laager sheltering across the border in the Western Transvaal.

Political Parties in Post-Nuclear America, 1996
The Crossroads of Destiny's parties.

oe0sBZu.png

National Alliance
The party of the broad right-wing, it's sorta in a "Third Way" situation now, with their president, Kate Barclay, going liberal on social issues and populist economically.

1ElfAJo.png

Green Party
The party of the center-left, it isn't exactly a "hippie" party, but it isn't that far from the counter-culture. Think 60s hippies who grew up but never lost their beliefs. Can be really moderate at times.

JIAZpoP.gif

Radical Party
The Greens' more socialist sister party, they're in an alliance. The Radicals were originally the bigger party, but is now on an equal footing with the Greens. Has a strong Christian element.

T7s2VRA.png

National Left Party
Drawing from a rich tradition of left-wing nationalism, they have rose high thanks to President Moon's interventionism, but their allying with the right-wing Barclay has hurt their appeal.

xw36i61.png

Free Market Alliance
A supposedly-libertarian party that advocates for a free market and against socialism, its recent actions have made it clear this is just a party for Qatari* interests, including endorsing the left-wing Moon in '92.

*Qatar here is a libertarian-controlled 'commune'. Yes.

9VGP8eh.png

Reform Party
The old party of the center-left before the Greens took that, they're still around somehow, and those days is a rather "pro-business" party compared to the Greens and Radicals. Dying by the day, though.

P3UXFFT.png

Alternative for America
A small party with the distinction that it's unrepentantly internationalist in an era where Americans are tired of international commitments after WWIII and the Eastern Europe war.

vkCTtbg.png

Christian Heritage Party
Despite ACWII damaging the far-right, there's still a big appetite for social conservatism. With Barclay widely seen to have "failed" that, the CHP has risen up to fight for "family values".

A graph I've made and I'm particularly proud of for a silly FB election with fake parties. Moving Forward (MF) is your typical social liberal, radical centrist, Renzi-Macronista party.

This is the manifesto.

Alternative political compass that I might use in Age of Civs. The decorative gridlines are from an unknown source I found on Pinterest. I have removed authoritarianism from the axes (replaced with "lawful" a la DnD) because in this universe authoritarianism is seen as coercion and hostility to disagreement, not an ideology in and of itself; instead, the second row in each box indicates a less authoritarian interpretation while the third row indicates a more authoritarian example of this position. Those rows are not intended to be an actual end-all and be-all, just characterizations. In map form, darker colors will indicate a higher level of coercion.

Love it. Not a fan of the ideology, but that is a slick presentation. You should be proud.

I couldn't really think/find any other place (besides a four year old thread...) to post this, so here it goes.

The above is a 5 Pound Banknote issued by the Bank of New England. It's the newest print, the 2018 series which started production in concurrence with the new year. It is printed on cotton and has numerous security features associated with each banknote.

I got bored and made a rapid-transit system for my home county. Because every mostly rural and agricultural county with a population of around 270,000 whose largest city has about 80,000 people totally needs a mass transit system, right?

RIGHT!?
