Grant IFV

Take a Grant tank you no longer need, having received Shermans, remove the 75mm gun and all the ammo racks, etc. Use the space to fit folding seats for riflemen. Keep the turret. The riflemen can get in and out through the side doors, the turret mounted 37mm and MG provide fire support. Crew of 3 plus a 6 men rifle squad. You are now the proud owner of the worlds first infantry fighting vehicle. And it's only 1943...

Sounds interesting. It would have commonality of parts with the Sherman, making maintenance a bit easier. It wouldn't be too great a stretch of the imagination for it to be built; the M3 Lee/Grant's derivative, the M7 Priest, was converted into an APC by the Canadians at that time.
