THE POD for this thread is this. In 1593, Grace O Malley, known as the Pirate Queen in Irish legend, sailed to England to meet face to face with Queen Elizabeth to petition for the release of her two sons and her half brother. Before the meeting, the guards searched O'Malley and found a knife on her person. The court was alarmed, but O'Malley explained she carried the knife to protect her person, which Elizabeth accepted and the meeting continued on accordingly.

How would England have changed had Grace O'Malley stabbed Elizabeth inflicting a fatal wound that resulted in her death? Would this have changed anything in Irish or English history, or would this have simply moved the timeline forward by 10 years to have James the I take the English throne earlier?
