Gott lives

William Gott was appointed to command the British 8th Army, but was killed when his plane was shot down. WI he had taken command and Monty stayed in the UK?

Good question, but Brooke thought that he was too tired and had been in the Western Desert for too long. I'm not sure that he had the ruthlessness required for Second Alamein. Monty, on the other hand, did.
 
At first glance, this seemed like a play on Nietzsche's infamous "Gott ist tot!" (God is dead!)
 
i think if he lived the allies would win the war very quickly and some excellent star wars references would pop up... if only someone would write a tl

Well, Gott did have an aggressive streak, though. He was somewhat of the equivalent to Patton.
