Things hadn't been going well for the USA at this time. After all, FDR had been assassinated, and his successor did none of the social programs he had proposed, and more importantly, decided to continue the Gold Standard. This led to unemployment that continued to hike upwards and, in the longer term, a more powerful USSR. Industrial machines started to hit rock bottom in cost, allowing for cheaper industrialization for the USSR. Add in massive immigration to seemingly the only successful nation at the time, besides the Fascist powers,
and the USSR enjoyed grand success.
