Golden door never slammed

WI the US had not passed the immigration restriction laws in the early 1920s.

How would the US society and economy have developed?

Would Jewish people have been allowed to leave Nazi Germany?

The U.S> would have a massivly invigorated economy and gene pool and would become a direct threat to any country even slightly similar to Nazi Germany.

"Screw this noise, I'm going to AMerica."

Unless the increased social tensions ripped the country apart.

Large-scale immigration is anything but frictionless. The US handles it a lot better than most countries, but doesn't have infinite ability to do so.

Hmm that a point, but consider, that the U.S> is a big country and at that time much of it was uninhabited.

If friction got too bad, many could just head west until they ran out of people to pick on them.

Maybe, on the other hand the 1920s was the decade of prohibition, and racial tension was ever-present as well.
