Göring had been informed by Blomberg of his fiancee's 'past' and had asked Göring for permission to marry her despite it and if Hitler would approve. Göring told him it would be fine and then he ran to Himmler to dig up the records to discredit him and seize the position of War Minister for himself; Hitler ultimately took it despite Göring's plans to aggrandize himself and they engineered the downfall of General Fritsch at the same time, paving the way for Hitler and the Nazis to dominant the military directly after Blomberg has expressed alarm and his lack of support for Hitler's plans for war, which were revealed at the Hossbach conference months before in 1937.
So what if the POD of Göring dying in 1936 had happened and Göring wasn't around for Blomberg to confide in? I don't think there was anyone else that he trusted enough to try and talk to about the issue within Hilter's circle, so its unlikely that his wife's past is discovered and used as an excuse to dispose of him. Without Blomberg going down Fritsch wouldn't have been taken down either, as it was the scandal of Blomberg's situation that overshadowed what happened with the Fritsch affair and enables the Nazis to effectively coup the military.
So is it likely the Hitler isn't able to take over the military without Göring's opportunism? If so then what happens with Austria in March 1938? Does Blomberg go along with that? I don't see him going along with the Czechoslovak gambit in September 1938, so might the Oster conspiracy then get the army and War Ministry to back them and topple Hitler before he can force the issue? In fact without Göring knocking out Blomberg and Fritsch is it possible that Hitler is toppled in 1938 when he tries to start expanding by threatening war?
