getting right the first time

What if the Germans were able to take Paris in 1914? I assume that just as in 1940, France would have surrendered and the British would have fought on. I think Greece would have been enlisted as an ally and then been used as a base to help Serbia. There would have also been a successful Gallopoli. I think the Germans still would have attempted to starve the British with submarine warfare, which would have brought the US into the war. I think Austria Hungry crumbles and then Germany would have asked for an armistice just as they did OTL.

I wouldn't assume that the French would surrender or that, if they did, Germany and the UK couldn't come to some sort of arrangement.

The assumption that France would surrender in particular I think unlikely. The France of 1940 was shaped by the experience of WWI and the particularly poisonous inter-war politics. But in 1914 France is bellicose, proud, and superb in her gloire. She will fight on.
