Franz Halder was on his way to see the Führer. The invasion of France was over with and the Vichy government was being set up. He was so relived that it did not bog down into a stalemate like last time. Hitler had ordered him to Berlin to discuss something big and he was a bit weary. The events at Zossen were still fresh in his mind. When he got to Hitlers Headquarters, Hitler presented him with the plans. Halder was to help prepare for the invasion of Russia. This was to be the largest attack of the war. His head began to spin as he thought of how this could affect Germany. Even with the easy defeat of France, the USSR was a much bigger opponent. Hitler could bring an end to the Germany that had just been reborn. Halder couldn't think anymore, he only acted. He took out his pistol and unloaded the clip into Hitler before he could be stopped. An SS guard who rushed into the room fired on Halder but with poor aim, he’d just nicked his left shoulder. Halder fell to the ground and was taken away while Hitler was rushed to the Hospital. The leader of the Nazi Reich was pronounced dead 1 hour later but that's when the real actions happened and the new leader of Germany would show himself.
Word had gotten around fast that the all mighty Führer was dead. This news made some cry, some angry, and a few took this news as a chance. The first man to take advantage of the situation was Admiral Canaris. He had been conspiring with the British against Hitler for years and moved very quickly to do everything in his ability to restrict the movement of all SS units as to keep the Nazis in check. This also had the effect of helping another take power. Canaris wanted to stop the Nazis from keeping control and also to make peace with the British. There was one man though that had more influence and power to insure he would be the next leader of Germany. While Canaris was busy ordering “hits” on all the high power German officials, this man got several generals on his side and even with his large size, was able to doge an assassins bullet that Canaris had sent. This bulging man had gotten support from Ludwig Beck and many army units under the command of General Brauchitschand and Erwin von Witzleben (swayed by the death of Hitler). As Berlin was being garrisoned by the SS moving in to secure the Nazi leadership, the Heer surrounded the capital and several other big cities in Germany and placed the entire country under martial law. The Nazi party which had gathered in the Reichstag to hear a speech by Himmler. They were now barricading themselves inside to try to hold out for the SS. Himmler had been addressing all of Germany to reassure them that this crisis would soon pass, when news of the army coming reached him and the power was cut. There were only a few SS guards so the Nazi party never had a chance. After a 30 minute “siege”, the army finally broke in and what would be later called a massacre (only by the handful that knew), the army units eliminated all the Nazi party members that attended which accounted for about 90%.
The Army was continuing the round up of the rest of the Nazi party members that were not killed in the Reichstag Siege. SS units which had not made it to Berlin were making stands in whichever city they were in but almost half their numbers were deserting as there purpose and leadership were gone. The highest officers had gone into hiding and would slowly make there way to the Swiss border. Only 25% of these officers would ever be caught crossing the border. These men would later return to cause discontent with the new government. With all this going on, a new government was being born to replace the Nazi totalitarian rule. A faction within the Nazis now had the power to control the country and break away from being labeled as such. This new government would resemble to the Weimar government. This government was to be controlled by the Wilhelmine Imperialists. The New President would be the most influential of the Imperialists. Herman Goering, the man who cast Hitler aside and who will lead Germany to its rightful place as the leader of Europe. Or that’s how the German people perceived it, as they were smoothed talked by one of the only Nazis that could stay in power; Joseph Goebbels. The Other Nazi to not be eliminated was Albert Speer, who was allowed to stay as he would be the one to revolutionize German Industry.
It was July and the German government was finally stabilizing. The Nazi name had been taken off the door with all open Nazis meeting firing squads except those that were still needed. The SS hold outs and some uprisings across the country that had taken place because of the chaos in Berlin were now getting real attention from the Heer and were falling apart. Germany was now known again as Deutsches Reich (German Empire) with its new President Herman Goering leading the way. With his new found power, he wanted to put Germany in a solid position as to not lose this war like the old. He tasked Albert Speer to revolutionize Germany into a new age. He was ordered by Goering personally to work with Messerschmitt on a jet fighter he was developing as it would make a fine edition to the Luftwaffe. It would outclass anything currently in the air and Messerschmitt would be given all the money he needed for this new plane. Two army generals also suggested that a new tank be made. It would have an 88 for the barrel and incorporate slanted armor as this would deflect shells and anti-tank rounds better. Rommel and Manstein would soon enjoy the wonders of this new tank but not for some time as the Luftwaffe's budget increased at the cost of the Wehrmacht and the Kriegsmarine.

Speer was given many liberties with reorganizing the German economy but was watched closely as he had still not earned the trust of the new Germany. He had to push hard for working with the government to have all factories switched over to the assembly line. He got the loophole he needed when he told Goring that this would help produce the Reich’s new jet fighter much faster. With the leader on his side, he applied this to all aircraft factories and just continued on. Speer was also presented with a new design of a tank. It was to be double the weight of the Panzer III and would incorporate the slanted armor that the Russian T-34 had when they fought the Japanese in the Mongolian failure. This new tank proposed main armament would be 88 mm gun which had proven itself time and time again in Spain and France as an effective anti-tank weapon. Else where in the world, the Italians were pushing into Egypt but had stopped at Sidi Barrani. They were showing no incentive of going any further so Goring had ordered for plans to be drawn up for a German force to be deployed into Africa. They would deploy as soon as possible before the British could reinforce there position. He would order 2 air fleets to Sicily and Libya and move over 4 panzer divisions into Libya. All the Italians had to do was hold out until German air power was supreme over the Middeteranian.

Why would Speer be the head of industry, his influence wasnt as vast in 1940.

But still its a good timeline keep it up!

Please break up these paragraphs, they are really hard to read.:(

Here is what I have for editing your first post:

Franz Halder was on his way to see the Führer. The invasion of France-Fall Gelb--had been a great success, and Marshal Petain was forming a new government at Vichy. They would not be repeating the great war, and that was just as well.

Hitler, however, had ordered him to Berlin to discuss something big, and that was never a good sign. The events at Zossen were still fresh in his mind; At headquarters, Hitler presented him with his demands. Halder was to craft a plan to destroy the Soviet Union, in six months, Leningrad, Moscow and the Ukraine must be in German hands. But this project would likely end in disaster-- and Halder could not accept that.

Halder snapped, at long last the madness of the Fueher would lead to end of Germany.

He drew his pistol and unloaded the clip into Hitler, hitting him in the chest twice. An SS Bodyguard quickly appeared, too late to stop the attack but he only hit Halder in the left shoulder--still, that was enough. Halder fell to the ground, his shirt smeared in blood, while Hitler's personal doctor was rushed to the scene. The leader of the Nazi Reich was pronounced dead 1 hour later.

Word spread that the all mighty Führer was dead. Some cried, some fumed, and some plotted. Admiral Canaris had feigned rage, but he had plotted. He had conspired against Hitler for years--and while the timing of these events had caught him by surprise, he was ready. The attack was quickly blamed on the SS--the very idea that a high ranking general would kill Hitler in a fit of rage proved to be too absurd to be strongly considered, in the span of hours the SS--and Himmler himself--had been taken out of commission.

Nor was the Army idle. With the support of Generals Brauchtisch and Von Witzleben, one man survived all efforts to stop him. He would be the next leader of Germany. As Berlin exploded in violence between Canaris' Abwehr and Heydrich's SS the Heer surrounded the capital and placed the entire country under martial law.

Many of the surviving Nazi officials had gathered in the Reichstag in a desperate bid to cling to power. Heydrich's men had attempted to rescue the Nazi Leaderhsip, contacting Gobbels and Goring through telephone:

"We are running out of time. The Abwehr and Wehrmacht have gone rogue!"
"Stay down, we're going to try to use a JU-88 on that position!"
"My God! They're coming!"
BZZT!

The power was cut.

The handful of SS guards never had a chance, and Heydrich could not reinforce them. After a 30 minute “battle”, the army had control of the German Parliament. Some ministers, like Wilheim Frick, attempted a last ditch stand; others, like Herman Goring, surrendered at the sight of army units. While a handful of ministers were not accounted for, (Heydrich being the foremost example), the National Socialist Party had fallen.

There would be a long cleanup to follow. At least a dozen SS officials were not accounted for, and the ongoing efforts to find petty members of the Nazi Heriarchy would take months. Heydrich himself fled to Switzerland, calling in a favor from Franz Burri, a Nazi ideologue. As he did so, he vowed revenge...

In Germany, a new government was born. On paper, it appeared that little had changed. Like the Nazis themselves, they would at least pay lip service to the Weimar government, but it would be run by
Wilhelmine Imperialists.

Herman Goering, now styled President of Germany, would stay as a transitional figurehead to appease the masses. Joseph Goebbels was retained as the voice of German propaganda, while Albert Speer, Hitler's favorite architect, would be named the new minister of economics.

July 14th, 1940

The kangaroo courts have succeeded in lynching much of the old Nazi bureaucrats, while SS holdouts have been retaken. More ominously, Polish resistance has intensified, and Italy's war against the United Kingdom has fared poorly. The United Kingdom may have been beaten in the fields of France, but the English advance to Tobruk and the imminent collapse of Italian East Africa demands attention.

President Goring, predictably, turned to the Luftwaffe for answers. Could Messerschmidt and Heinkel meet his demands? Furthermore, Mussolini demanded assistance from Germany, which had spent the last month in a state of internal confusion while the Italian Army was squarely beaten across the board. General Heinz Guerdian made a strong impression and his demands to "make a better tank" were accompanied with a T-34, which was itself acquired through dubious means.

Notes:

This just reads too slowly, you focus on details that are unimportant and uninteresting.

Try to introduce some new characters (like I introduced Heydrich as the ranking leader of the SS, Gueridan as the advocate of tank design, and perhaps others as necessary)

Block text is no fun to read. While I admit that my own writing is not that great, I think it is much more readable than yours. Note that I cut about 25% of the information out.

Finally, you focus on details that probably don't matter, and there are real questions. If I didn't mention North Africa as a problem, you'd just abruptly hear the idea in the next post.

Please think about these ideas

BM Edit (And look at his previous Edit of your first post for more ideas)

The Newly promoted Albert Speer had been give more power, more responsibility and more authority than he had ever imagined, and it was hard to know where to begin. Predictably, Speer responded by bringing in an old advisor--Hjamar Schacht, President of the Reichsbank and later fired for opposing the Nazis. But Schacht was a critical figure for trying to decipher the German Economy. Still, as an outsider bringing in a fired Nazi, Speer walked a careful line--as did most of the German Government.

Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, however, was not given the choice of moving cautiously. General Guerdian insisted that Germany needed a "better answer" to the T-34 than the Pz IV, which had serious problems against French and English tanks in the French Campaign. The T-34, stolen from the battlefield of Nomohan, had several problems, including the transmission. But in design it represented a major advance on the Pz IV--most of all, this design offered a chance to emply the 88mm gun that Rommel had desperately used in France to great effect.

But it would have to begin soon. Mussolini was threatening to make a seperate peace with the United Kingdom, and the British forces had blunted an Italian offensive and had launched their own counterattack. If the British were not stopped quickly they would press on to Tripoli and evict the Axis from north Africa entirely.

The Engimatic Kanzler of Germany would send Erwin Rommel, a Tank Commander who had driven through Paris in 1940, to lead the German Africa Corps and seize Suez--and perhaps the Arab Oil behind it...
