Germany Early?

Marie Theresa is currently single. (in IRL - she marries her cousin)
Frederick the Great is currently single (in IRL - he married but never had children)

What if instead of detesting each other and starting a series of wars that consumes Europe, cupid's arrow strikes?

Could we have German unification early?

.

All my gut say is...Maybe? there was the plan of change Bavaria for Austrian Netherlands but still...

It's already difficult due to religious differences, but there is also pretty strong historical evidence that Frederick the Great was gay.

Doubt Frederick is as focused on Germany if he's married to MT. Probably focuses on recovering Naples or something. Certainly won't get allied with France or probably Britain so I have my doubts that such a union would lead to the same explosive growth of Prussia we saw in our own.

Well Naples was Austrian until was lost and if Karl (plus Maria Theresa and Frederick) are a little realistics the best way of resolving everything once for all is marrying Maria Anna to her second cousin Charles with the rights on Naples as (big) part of her dowry and the provision who the crowns of Naples and Spain must stay separated (but if Charles had to take the Spanish crown a younger son would be favored over his brother)
