Let's go with the basic starting premise of AANW: the Nazis defeat the Soviet Union by not sending in the Afrika Korps.

Here's the thought I had next. Could this potentially be enough for Franco to join in? One of the main reasons that Franco didn't join IOTL was that the Spanish Civil War had devastated the country to the point where people were literally starving to death, and they were sorely dependent on food and fuel imports they would have lost if they had joined WWII. Accordingly, he demanded Hitler provide massive food and fuel aid and territorial promises if he were to join the war, which Hitler was unwilling to provide.

However, if Hitler were to provide him with huge amounts of food and fuel from the captured Caucasus oilfields and Ukraine breadbasket plus put pressure on him in every other way available, would he join? We know from OTL that Franco tended to get friendlier or colder towards Hitler depending on his success (i.e. early in the war he let u-boats use Spanish bases), and his hand would look very hot IOTL.

What would be the effects of Franco doing so? IIRC Hitler really wanted to invade Portugal if they could get Spain in the war because they were covertly aiding the allies and had an extremely long-running alliance with the British, so war there is probable.

Interesting tidbit: Spanish bases would place most of the Eastern seaboard within bombing range of this aircraft...
