Germany and Russia Freidns?

What is Wilhelm of Germany decide to keep preserving his alliance with Russia? How would this have affected World War 1 and other events? BTW, how would this affect relations with the Austrians as well?

There probably isn't a World War One, at least not one that we would recognize.

The Germans, Russians, and Austro-Hungarians were in an alliance while Bismark was Chancellor. The Austrians and Russians had some competing interests in the Balkans and Germany was usually forced to moderate between its allies. The alliance was not completely harmonious, but it was probably still a better fit for autocratic Russia than an alliance with Republican France.

In this scenario France is going to be frustrated in all her dreams about getting Alsace - Lorraine back and avenging their defeat. Britain will never make a formal alliance with France, the farthest they will ever go is an 'understanding' similar to that of OTL. They likely can form an alliance with Italy. They may set out to try and become the 'guardians' of the Ottoman Empire, trying to fulfill the role the Kaiser had in OTL. Now being allied to Russia he can no longer be too friendly to the Turks.

Even if they were to make the Italians and Ottoman Turks dependable allies (in itself very questionable) they are not going to be in a position to challenge Germany. Even if there is an invasion of Belgium and Britain comes in France will still be crushed within a year at most. The Germans have no eastern front to worry about and will be able to send their whole army into France. With the vast resources of Russia to draw on the British blockade would have little effect and the BEF would be too small to make a significant difference.

If you still have Franz Ferdinand assassinated you won't have the Austrians getting a blank check. What you will get is a conference in Vienna or more likely Berlin where the Kaiser listens to Russian and Austrian representatives yell at each others until they come up with the appropriate course of action.

I doubt that any alliance between Austria and Russia could hold. They have too much diverging interests for that.

But that's not a problem: for once, Germany could have an interest in large parts of AH, Russia definitely has, and Serbia, Montenegro, Romania and Italy also have, thus any enemy of AH has some friends. Now Italy would probably join that alliance, but not a war if it has to fight Britain. So if Britain is neutral, you'd have everybody including Italy beat up AH and then turn toward France, if Britain is in you'd have everybody beside Italy beating up AH and then turn toward France.

Well the is a TL named The Twin Eatles and the Lion, which explains a similar scenario. Eventually, over time, I think Austria-Hungary, due to complications with relations between Russia, will probably leave the alliance. And I think in its place should be Italy because in OTL, it was in an alliance with Germany until WW1.

Well, Italy will never be a dependable ally though. Especially if France and Austria are allied. Then Italy will just wait out the war, or join after Germany has destroyed the Austro- French armies to take some spoils.
