Germany after WW3

Let's say the Cuban missle crisis went hot, not in a "I forgot my pizza for 20 minutes on 200°c" hot, but more of a "a bit dark but still eatable" kind of hot. So most of Humanity suvives the Nuclear world war (somehow), except Europe, more exact Germany. Since the day that both sides had MADs both new that Germany would be 100% destroyed, unrelevant on how long the war last or who wins, Germany will be destroyed from both sides. So, in this dystopian Scenario, let's say both West and East Europe survives on one leg but Germany takes the most punches from both sides. No government from either west or east Germany, with at least 40% of the population killed and most of it's infrastructure made useless. how would the West, former Warsaw pact and especially France and the UK deal with this radioactive stoneage mess. Would they just help a united but totally crippled Germany, or would the wounds of WW2 still have a effect on the treatment of post war Germany, maybe splitting it up in half maybe? Or occupying it again? I know this is extreme, but Germany is the only place I could imagine totally destroyed without all of Humanity kicking the bucket as well. This is not a hate thread, I'm myself German, I just really like doomsday scenarios. And how would post war Culture be aswell, considering that probably a lot of the Culture be it buildings, documents or simply dialects and minor traditions were destroyed during the war. Would Germany and it's people still have a "war guilt" like today sometimes because of WW2 or would that be obsolete thanks to the war?

It's really hard to have Germany annihilated and not have it spread to other countries. If it's that bad for Germany other nations won't be in a position to help even if they wanted to.

In the CMC scenario gone hot, there's very little chance of the USSR doing anything but glowing, and the WP not much better.

You might get a NATO aid convoy if they get radio reports from survivors, and surveyors to map radioactivity levels.

Americo Vespucci did a timeline that is considered classic for this event called the Cuban Missile War.

And with his kind permission I did a follow up entitled Voices of Doomsday.

While the results of a nuclear exchange circa 1962 are not pleasant for Germany they are not world-ending. Germany did not survive as a nation but small feudal states survive east of the Rhine. While there are some surviving governments the conditions seem to get more and more chaotic the further east one goes By the 21st century Germany is still pretty much a lawless zone probably with some of the small republics being courted by the surviving powers.

To make it short
There is not much left of Both Germanys after CMC get ultra hot

First the NATO and Red Army will use everything in arsenal to hit each other
NATO will use in 1962 mostly Big caliber nukes on sites were Soviet base are, while red army do like wise
next to that use of tactical nukes along the Inner german border special at "Fulda Gap" were USA store also nuclear weapons to stop soviets

So after the Exchange, All US and Red Army Bases including the ones of Bundeswehr and NVA will be glowing craters
and since they are close by in Very populate areas like Frankfurt am Main, Berlin and Mannheim
Will be the Death toll extrem, high under German population.

As I recall from CMW Berlin was one of the few major German cities that was spared. Neither side wanted to nuke their own troops so Berlin stayed intact. Later the troops in Berlin evacuated to their respective nations with most of the Berliners choosing to evacuate with the Americans.

In 1962 the Soviets didn't have a large number of high yield weapons, while the USA was near the peak

I think what's left of the Germans better throw in the towel it's probably not easy with two generations who fought the Germans alive, but a good many of us, probably most Americans are a least a touch German, German surnames are common.

We bring them here, because it's the right thing to do, and by extension they're family just like the British, they suffered and suffered, time to bring them to their new home.

Living in Berlin in the Cold War was to have a concious understanding that you were going to be the first to die in a Third World War.

There would probably be a great deal of bitterness towards both sides in the Cold War. I could see whatever’s left of Germany joining the non- aligned movement, or perhaps even leading it (assuming that the pre- Cold War power blocks or something similar to them still exist).

Probably extremely bitter and openly nazi. Given that there'd be one or two million germans and an economy at roughly Liberia's in terms of development/per capita income, it's not like anyone in real countries like the US/Brazil/South Africa/Australia/etc would notice or care about the Fourth Reich, though.
