Germans invade Bulgaria in WW2

Either way once the territory is gained one can easily imagine just how happy any government in Sofia would be to make a special announcement on "the recent territorial gains we made, referred to in the past tense for a reason".

It's rather implausible of Germany to invade because Bulgaria refused to declare war on the Allies; a rather likelier scenario is Germany invading if Bulgaria tries to switch sides too early, like Hungary.
A popular scenario in Bulgaria is Boris III refusing Germany pemission to pass through Bulgaria to Greece, but that's almost ASB, what with no motives to do it and plenty of incentives to joining Germany.

Maybe this is possible if war breaks out in 1940 between Romania and the USSR over Bessarabia, and Bulgaria decides to back the Soviets and declare war on Romania as a result?

IMO both of those are way too early, resulting in Bulgaria getting steamrolled. Thats why i put the POD in 1943/1944.
