German Napoleon?

I have a question to you users of AH.com.

I need your help/ideas/names for a German version of Napoleon in a scenario where Germany and France are switched.

BTW: It's my first time in pre-1900 forum.

Hmmm... Something says that he will be Czech or Northern Italian guy, "not even speaking proper Deutsch" - you can run with this:)

Very difficult. It could have been possible, that Napoleon became a Prussian as his father was evolved into an uprising against the French king and could have been forced to live in exile, but the other conditions are not given. A pan-German revolution would not likely happen, as Germany was too splitted. And even in the biggest German states one does not have the preconditions for a Napoleon, meaning no famines and bankrupt states. A German Nappy would have to unify Germany first before going further. And that's even very problematic. He would not have any time more to come further.

I would suggest that this figure start in Austria, which almost had a Revolution in the 1780s, instead of Prussia.

Another option is to use a Danish/German noble.

Is Denmark a part of this united Germany, Is Denmark independent and do it have the duchies?
With both option you can use a Danish/German noble, if Denmark is independent but does not have the duchies it will be harder.

Lets go with an Independent Denmark with the duchies.
The Noble families you can use could be Reventlow and Moltke both German noble houses but also serving Danish kings. Specific persons i really can't give you, especially with the butterflies, but a person that could be used if you change his birthday 30-40 years (should be possible with the butterflies) is Helmuth von Moltke the Elder (born 1800)

Denmark during 18th century is likely the most militarized country in Europe. and a young Danish/German noble man in Danish service could easily sympathies with a revolutionary Germany

(bonus Helmuth von Moltke actually went from Danish service to Prussian military service)

Thank you all for those great answers.
This definitely helps me to write a proper backstory for the county, that needed some details about Revolutionary Germany/Prussia era.

And if someone wants to know what the country is, it's Scandinavia. (it might be little bit ASB)

I think I will make the name by myself because the starting POD is quite far away from the Napoleonic era.

For a Napoleon analogue in Austria, he should be a minor nobleman in a recently-conquered/non German province.

You could actually make him Italian, and it would still work. Just make him from Venice instead of Corsica.

He could be a hungarian or czech or polish or silesian too.

Dalmatian would make more sense, as without Napoleon Austria would not be annexing Venice

If we're looking for someone just slightly culturally off kilter from their potential empire, might I suggest that given the lack of a unified Germany that a candidate need only not come from either Austria or Prussia and that a Napoleon figure could originate in any of the other German states with Bavaria, Saxony, Hanover are all good candidates for origins. Otherwise the Germanish lands of The Dutch, or as mentioned Denmark and Bohemia are all good locations for origin in my mind.

One thing to consider, assumably without Napoleon the HRE is not formally disbanded, Is this a potential vehicle for ambitions or is it so Habsburg wrapped up and unsalvageable that a new German Empire essentially replaces it?
