German dreadnoughts [or East Asian Squadron] trapped in USA and interned

Inspired by this thread above, if the Germans delay the departure of the dreadnoughts of Kaiser and Konig Albert and due to coaling or machinery issues, end up with the dreadnoughts [and a surviving East Asian Squadron plus merchant and auxiliary ship reinforcements] interned in American or Spanish ports, what will be the consequences? If everything goes as in o.t.l. until January 1917, how would unrestricted submarine warfare be affected, since they might lose the interned warships to confiscation?

I suspect that the ships won't get confiscated easily. Internment allows a caretaker crew, and I would expect that, with a dreadnought, at least an attempt to scuttle the ship.

If in a US port, that development could become interesting.... Dependent on timing, Marines attempt to board and seize the ship, or open the sea-cocks; or in a spectacular demise - set demolitions to cause the ship to capsize, making it harder to salvage?

On interned ships: are the munitions removed to shore?

But, how will interned [in US] dreadnoughts affect submarine warfare due to the likelihood of the dreadnoughts' confiscation?
