German attack on Crete in WWII

For OTL, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Crete . The Germans by paratroop drops early got hold of Maleme airfield on Crete's north coast and used it to fly supplies in. An Allied attempt to quickly recover Maleme airfield was delayed a day by a sea storm (bad weather) delaying Allied landing ships, and that delay proved crucial, letting the Germans fly many more men and supplies in.

ATL :: No sea storm, and the Allied landing force attacks Maleme quickly.

The NZ Brigade defending the Airstrip had too a man walked the land and understood the battlefield before the first Germans landed.

The decision was made by the Brigade and battalion commanders not to counter attack and cede the airstrip to the FJs - the Fjs victory there was a failure by the NZ troops or more accurately their commanders (22nd Battalions Col Andrews who lost his grip and basically abandoned his men and Brig. Hargest who likewise failed to act in sending any reinforcements from his 5th Brigade and 28th Maori to contest the airhead) as I am convinced that the NZ 5th Brigade along with the 28th Maori could have overrun the airhead had the 'trigger' been pulled

No need to wait for reinforcements
