Georgia secedes from the USSR in 1956

There had been Nationalist protests in Georgia, ironically partly because o Khrushchev´s denouncing of Stalin, who despite his notority was seen by Georgians as one of theirs, who ruled over Russia. The protests grew but were put down violantly. The Soviet propaganda acused the protesters to attack ethnic Russians and Armenians. Even the Communist Party in Georgia was alienated, after the violant crackdown. Reports concerning deaths varied from a few dozend to several hundred . What if there was an armed insurgency with the goal to secede from the Soviet Union ?

Simple: it would have been crushed in a way that would have made Budapest look like a picnic in comparison. Such an uprising would have zero chance of success and I can imagine an overwhelming majority of the organizers to be sent to long vacation in Siberia.

This can go two ways
1) rebels be stupid and don't use guerrilla warfare and are killed or sent to Siberia
2) they use guerrilla warfare witch Georgia has perfect terrain for and makes this a bloody mess Rebellion may eventually be put down or option number 2 Georgia becomes its own puppet/sattilite state on paper independent but in reality an extension of the Soviet Union.

The Soviets are going to put down the rebellion no matter how many casualties it costs them--period. (The protesters incidentally were largely students with little experience in warfare, guerrilla or otherwise.)
