George Lucas dies in 1980

If it isn't in the right forum, I request a mod to move it.

On the day the movie "Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back" is released (May 21, 1980), George Lucas is hit by car and dies.

How does his death affect the star wars series and the movie industry in general? (let's face it, star wars affected Hollywood very much).

ROTJ is going to be very different. By this time there exist only very few plans for the third movie.

There will probably be no Star Wars EU - or it will be far smaller than in OTL.

The impact on movie industry will be as in OTL. The first two movies were enough to revolutionize the scene.
And then there are the Star Trek movies, Battlestar Galactica etc

Oh and there wont probabaly be a second Star Wars trilogy either.

"Sheds a tear for the movies Labyrinth, Willow, and Howard the Duck"

George Lucas biggest contributions to Movie making was the fact he never patented breakthroughs in movie technology and passed them on to the Industry.
